ASA 2023 Aboriginal Studies

Financial Support

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting students and teachers, the ASA is expanding our range of support options.

A limit of THREE applications per school will be accepted from any of the following categories:

  • Student Major Project Support: As in previous years, this is offered to Aboriginal Studies students who experience financial difficulties and need resources to complete their Major Project. This could include for example, costs of materials, resources, or services such as transcriptions, Aboriginal expertise, etc. An itemised budget of up to $300 can be submitted. Given timing of HSC Major Project, applications for this support option will be accepted until 30 November 2023).

  • Student Engagement Support: This is offered to students at any point in the Aboriginal Studies course who have shown strong engagement with the course, but who face barriers that could be reduced through a small financial supplement up to $300.

  • Distance Education Subsidy: Accessing Distance Education can require the payment of various fees to access courses and resources. If you work with students studying Aboriginal Studies via distance learning, this subsidy of up to $300 is available to offset these costs, and therefore reduce the barriers to entry for Aboriginal Studies.

  • School Resource Support: The ASA is offering financial support of up to $300 to enable purchase of resources that may not be available due to school budgetary constraints.

  • Applications must include a brief description of how this supplement will benefit the applicant. Please include an itemised budget of expenses up to $300 and email aboriginalstudiesassociation@gmail.com
